Today I ventured to the Elkhorn, WI Flea Market for the first time and all I can say is "wow!" More like a huge antique show than a typical flea market, this event transforms the Walworth County Fair Grounds into a vintage lover's dream, for there are antiques as far as the eye can see! From Madison it is just an 1 1/2 hour drive amongst pretty country roads, which are currently bursting with bright green grass, just budding trees and lots of pretty spring flowers! Once there, the fair grounds were quaint and cute, with lots of old buildings and food stands, peppered with flower sellers amongst the antiques. I spied lots of vintage lovelies, from fabulous architectural and salvage materials, vintage clothing and fabric, tons of jewelry, and too many collectibles to name! Here are just a few of my favorites...
This fabulous turquoise metal chair came in a pair and was hard to pass up! It would have been so lovely on my patio with some bright pillows! Maybe next time!
I adored the graphics and bright colors seen on these vintage tins! What a wonderful collection to have on display in your home!
Crystal chandeliers always get me! They look so luxurious to me and I have dreams of someday having a home where in every room, even the bathroom, a crystal chandelier adorns the ceiling!
An amazing bird house! I do so love me some unique birdhouses and this one certainly takes the cake!
With so many antique sellers, I found myself being drawn to the unique. Some booths and sellers really stuck out to me, not just for the wares they were selling, but also for how they displayed them. Here are some of my favorites...
This creative vendor, from The Cottage, created her own little boutique inside her trailer, not only keeping the vintage items safe from the rain and wind, but creating a magical little store that was enchanting to walk into!
Gracie's Cottage was another creative booth in which I found enchanting displays and designs
Well, as you can see, I had a blast! Although I could have spent a gazillion dollars, I showed great restraint and only purchased a few treasures, including this vintage photo of a beautiful bathing lady...
I just loved her plus size figure (similar to my own!) and her great smile, and check out that bathing suit! Can you imaging swimming in that! I can't wait to use this lovely lady in my collage art! I got one other sweet little treasure, to add to a new collection I just started, but I want to save that for another blog post! So check back soon!
Oh I am so jealous. I was just too pooped after my show Sat in Chicago. Isn't it awesome, I went for the first time last year and was hooked....like a kid in a candy store. Glad the weather held out.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos Alisson! Looks like it was a wonderful trip!
